Library Christmas activities

Gingerbread making
Our local library is awesome and has a variety of weekly free programs. When Landon was younger, he went to Baby Tales- which was mostly songs and very short stories. He went to normal story time once he turned two, and since we have been back in the area, he is now old enough for Story Lab, which has science experiments, songs, games, art projects and snacks every week. It is like a miniature preschool class! In December, we built a gingerbread house and decorated sugar cookies. Landon loved picking the candies to go on his gingerbread house. He is not quite coordinated enough to spread the frosting on the graham crackers, so we worked as a team to decorate. Mostly, he liked eating the candy. Owen conveniently slept the entire time!

On cookie decorating day, Landon chose bright blue frosting and spent more time sampling the cookies than decorating. We shared the remaining candy, and when I asked Landon if he wanted to save one of the cookies for Daddy. Without skipping a beat, he said, "NO! I want to eat it after lunch!" And he did. We love Miss Diane, the Story lab librarian. It is apparent that she loves her job, and puts so much time and effort into making it great. Thanks Elk Grove Village library for the fun times!
