An LDS Church Service on the Sea of Galilee with Jet-lagged Kids... A Learning Moment

Image
View of the Sea of Galilee from the church balcony As a devout Christian and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I was SO EXCITED to tour around Israel! I had explained to Landon that we were going to be visiting places where Jesus Christ lived and taught and he was pretty stoked too. We arrived in Israel on a Thursday morning, and after a half day of work orientation for Austin on Friday, we started checking out the area. We were careful not to do too much with our jet-lagged boys, but we wanted to make the most of this incredible opportunity! One of the things I was most excited about was visiting the Sea of Galilee, and attending church in Tiberias. The boys were still pretty jet lagged on Saturday morning (Owen was up for a few hours in the night, and Landon was up for the day at 3:30 am!), but that didn't matter, we were going to church and see the place where Christ spent a significant portion of his ministry! We never know how long it is going t

A Long Overdue Update on our Boys

For a few weeks now, I have been wanting to record some of the interesting and cute things that both my boys are doing right now. They are so full of energy, destruction, love, curiosity, and more energy! Without further adieu, here's what Landon has been up to: - Landon LOVES all things science. Dinosaurs, marine biology, electricity, geology, anatomy and physiology, animals, physical science, astronomy- he is really into learning about all of these subjects right now. For our home school preschool, we do "reports" off and on where we learn about a specific subject, or do an experiment, and Landon draws a picture of the subject/experiment, and then he directs me on how to label the picture. I have him give me three facts about what we learned and I write those down too. I recently reintroduced him to The Magic School Bus books and he loves them. - We're still working through sensory issues, but things are much better. Landon is a textbook sensory seeker. He p

SEESTER Visit in Colorado

The boys love Uncle Zach and Aunt Mariah! While we were staying with the Browns in Colorado, my sister Mariah and her husband Zach drove over from Utah to see us for a weekend! It had been over a year since we were last together, so it was a joyful reunion. It was even more fun because Mariah is expecting her first baby, and so we got to talk motherhood and baby stuff. I'm SO EXCITED to be an aunt for the first time! The boys had a great time playing dinosaur fight with Mariah and Zach, and reading tons of stories! We had a great time sledding and hanging out. It was sad when they had to leave, but we're excited to reunite several more times this year, and to meet their new baby girl in July! Sisters!

A Colorado Christmas

Celebrating Austin and Owen's birthdays... very late! Just because we are THAT crazy and love traveling THAT much, we visited my family in California for two weeks on our way back to Chicago, then made it to Denver for Christmas . At this point, we had a few pieces of fall clothing from our fall in Korea, but most of the clothing we had with us was not suitable for the weather in Chicago or Denver. So, as soon as we landed in Chicago, we headed over to our storage unit to go "shopping" for the things we needed in Denver. Because we were so tired of flying, we decided to DRIVE to Denver. We spent one night in Chicago, loaded up our stuff, and rolled out toward Denver around noon the next day. Owen took an epic nap, we met up with our old BYU swimming pal Zach for dinner in Lincoln, Nebraska, where we had planned on stopping and resting for the night. We decided to continue driving, though, so the boys would not have to spend another full day in the car. I drove durin
