Schaumburg Boomers' Baseball Game- Schaumburg, Illinois

Image
We stay way out in the suburbs when we're back in the Chicago area, so it's a good hour at least to get into the city to do anything. We contemplated going in to the city to a Cubs or White Sox game, but after looking at the schedule of our local independent league team, the Schaumburg Boomers, we opted to drive 10 minutes instead and enjoy some baseball! We sat on the lawn on the visitor's side and Landon spent some time watching the bull pen warm up. He terrorized a little boy playing catch with his dad until the boy let him join in. He played with and lost his brand new hot wheels car. He watched a teensy bit of the game. He ran away at least 5 times to try to get into the bounce house play area. We didn't let him because it cost $5 and we were there to watch baseball, dang it! We got out of it by telling him he could play there when he's older..  Hanging on the grass Climbing the railing,,, Later on in the night, Landon was on the jumbotron with a ...

Chicago Northside Fun!

Sea Lion swimming by We are still awaiting our next assignment here in the Chicago area. For the first week of this, after our trip to CA, Landon and I hung out a lot and got organized. The 2nd week we ventured out a little more, this week, we wanted to play and explore! We took a trip to the Lincoln Park Zoo with our new on-the-road friends who are staying at our hotel. We checked out most of the zoo animals and Landon had a blast watching the animals, figuring out what they were eating, etc. It was a beautiful day so the animals were out as well! We watched the beaver swim One of Landon's favorite parts of the zoo was watching the different trucks work on a new zoo exhibit. One truck even lifted up a tree branch and slowly moved it through the zoo. We turned around to try to avoid it, but it followed us all the way around the bear exhibits! That was totally ok with Landon. Landon the termite licking the germs off of the termite den The giraffe was looking a...

Nexen Heroes Baseball game- Mokdong Stadium, Seoul

Image
Another member of Austin's crew has been released, with leaves him with a better schedule now and we know we will be here at least a week or two longer. Mixed emotions- I want to go visit family, but there are still things that need exploring here in Seoul, so I'm good with that. Mokdong Stadium Yesterday, we heard that someone was leaving, they just weren't sure who yet. So we went to a baseball game in case it was our last time we could here. The weather was a little warm, but with the sun going down it became very pleasant! The Nexen Heroes are 2nd in the Korean League this year, so the stadium was packed with fans from both teams and it was a very fun time! This time we had to sit way out on the 3rd base line. How the batters were hitting made it so we saw many plays and even a few home runs go way out of the park. Landon had to take breaks and several times said he needed to nap, but overall he did great and as he got more tired he was more content to sit wi...

SK Wyverns Baseball Game

Image
Even with skies threatening rain, we ventured out to the Munhak Sports Complex in Incheon to for a baseball game. The sports complex also had a huge soccer stadium and a brand new pool complex that is going to be used for the Asian Games. It was raining on our way there and back, so we didn't go see the pool, but it looked cool from the outside.  The SK Wyverns have won the Korean league three times in the past 7 years, but this year they are struggling. They were playing the Dexen Heroes. Landon has been obsessed with a soccer shirt I got him on sale after the World Cup, so we decided he needed a baseball shirt to go with his collection, and to give him something else to obsess about.  Before the game started It rained off and on lightly until after the 4th inning, when it started pouring. It stopped for a bit, and then started again full force. We left at this point, because it was about an hour back on the train and Austin had to work the next morning. Even t...
