LDS Quiet Book Extravaganza

I finally finished enough pages to put my quiet book together! Landon already had a store bought Bible quiet book, so I focused on a Book of Mormon/Church History/LDS general theme. For materials I used a heavy weight Pellon for the pages. It is much easier to work with vs. felt, and lasts a long time. I used a combination of stiff and soft felt for everything that goes on the page. I would have used all stiff felt, but Hancock Fabrics did not have all the colors of stiff felt that I wanted. Instead of stitching on the lettering, I wrote on the Pellon with sharpie. SO much easier. I used many different blogs for ideas, and tweaked the designs here and there to make it work for me. Here are the pages:  The first page I did was Lehi's vision of the Tree of Life found in 1 Nephi 8. The iron rod is a silver ribbon, and Nephi can move along it. Jeju Island- Cheonjeyeon Falls

Gate off to the side of the path to the falls These falls we came upon by accident- they were not on my top list of things to do. We were driving back from the cliffs and saw the sign. We pulled over and ended up loving these waterfalls the best. I think the top waterfall was actually Cheonjeyeon falls, and then in this beautiful gorge that went straight out to the ocean there were waterfalls aptly named "2nd waterfall" and "3rd waterfall". Before we reached the waterfall, we went over a spectacular, but completely unnecessary bridge to the other side of the gorge. We could see the ocean in the distance and the lush trees and undergrowth just made it a gorgeous view. \ Austin and Landon on top of the bridge  Below, you can see that it was fairly steep to get up to the top. Looking back at 2011... but mostly forward to 2012!

Thinking back on 2011, I think it was a pretty ho-hum year. For the 2 years Austin and I have been married, we have pretty much kept to a hectic, student schedule. We registered for classes , paid tuition, looked at eachother's schedules and realized we would never see each other. This year, I left home at 5:30 am most mornings to make it to my 7:00 am classes, then stayed up in Salt Lake most of the day to go to work from 4-7. Austin added teaching Italian to his already crazy homework load, and spent at least 5-9 hours/night doing homework while I took care of everything else (I didn't have that much homework). Austin took summer off to regroup for his final year of school, and I completed an awesome internship. All in all, it was just another year in school, getting us closer to our goals, but not necessarily an exciting year of change. Contrast that to 2012! I just finished my last academic semester.
