4 Months... and HUGE!

Landon's Christmas-day-excitement face
Is it sad that I am working on Landon's 3rd and 4th month posts at the same time? In Landon's 4th month, he became interested in toys! He also found his feet and started rolling to his side. He loves to explore everything by putting it in his mouth. He kind of sits up supported or puts his hands out in front and balances that way.  He also LOVES bath time, and is already perfecting his backstroke technique.

Austin and Landon joined Lifetime Fitness, the gym where I work as a master's swim coach, in December. Landon is old enough now to go to childcare while I work out, which makes it much easier for both Austin and I to get our workout on! Austin's goal was to lose enough weight between Thanksgiving and Christmas that he could eat whatever he wanted at Christmas and not get any fatter. I'm happy to say that he accomplished his goal, and even ended up a pound lighter than he was at Thanksgiving. My husband is a star :) I just worry about his motivation now that he has accomplished his goal... Landon also made his first trip to the pool at Lifetime. There is a leisure pool there that is around 89 degrees and Landon made his swimming debut there with me. He didn't quite know what to think because the water there was much colder than in his baths, but he let me put his ears in the water and he floated on his back with me just holding his head. With his stumpy legs, big feet, long arms, broad shoulders and ridiculously long torso, Austin and I think that Landon is doomed to a long, successful swimming career.

Baby Jesus was kind of big...

The Young Women's organization at church was in charge of the decorations and program for our church Christmas party. Since I am a leader in YW, I was put in charge of the program. Since I have a baby boy, naturally he was Jesus for our little nativity. I was really nervous beforehand because he was crying and fussing and wouldn't eat right before, but as soon as he was out in the stage lights he was a perfect little angel. I was at the piano for the whole program, and Austin was back stage, so some nice ladies in our ward made sure we got some pictures to document his first moment on stage.

At Landon's 4 month check up he was 27 inches long and 17 lbs, 15 oz. Both of those are in the 95th percentile, which does not surprise me because he is growing out of 6 month clothes into either 6-12 month clothes or 9 months depending on the brand. He isn't even that chubby, he is just BIG.

The week before Christmas we flew out to Denver, CO to visit Austin's family. It was great to see them, and for them to be able to interact with Landon. He loved all of the love and attention he got there. Of course, he was spoiled by all the relatives with adorable outfits and toys. The Grandparents Brown got Landon an activity jumper thing for Christmas that Landon really loves even though his legs are so stubby that he can't yet touch the ground while sitting in the jumper. He likes to play with the toys on top, though.

While in Denver, we visited the Denver Zoo for "Zoo Lights". Even though it was cold, Landon LOVED it and even got to see Santa for the first time.

SANTA!

Landon met Carter, Austin's cousin's son, who is 2 weeks younger than Landon. He was much more excited about it than Carter was :)

No one told Landon we were posing for a family picture...
While in Denver, Austin and I celebrated our 3rd anniversary. Because we have a 4 month old, we didn't quite do the multi-day adventure trips that we planned for our 1st and 2nd anniversaries. I did find a living social deal for a nice dinner for two at The Broker, a restaurant built inside an old bank in downtown Denver and we called it good. It was pretty cold, but we parked and walked downtown along the 16th street Mall, admired the lights at the Denver City and County building, and someone even tried to sell us marijuana (it's legal now in CO). We had a wonderful date night without Landon, and came home to Austin's house to find him sound asleep, HOORAY!!!

As we head into the New Year, Austin and I are gearing up to try going gluten free for awhile. We are not allergic to gluten, but Austin thinks he may have a gluten intolerance so we are trying it out to see how it goes. Wish us luck!
