How God is helping me right now, and cute Landonisms of the day

Image
The temple gives me great perspective! Confession time: I am a planner. I like to have a plan for each day, and sometimes even hours within a day. I like to be able to look at my calendar and know what I'm going to be doing and where I am going to be living a week, a month, a year from now. With traveling, I want to make the most of each day that I am living in a different country! I get stressed thinking about all the things we won't be able to do, or haven't done, when we are in places that we may never see again! Ocean helps me keep calm When we prayed about it and felt that it was right for Austin to take this job opportunity, I had  an idea of what it would entail. Move around a lot. Live out of suitcases. See the world. Sounded like a good trade-off. What I didn't know is how plans can change day to day depending on the clients Austin is working with, his boss at this specific assignment as well as his boss back in Chicago that "staffs...

Sunday Motherly Musings, and cute things Lando is doing

Image
For the past few days, I have been a "single" mother in the fact that Austin is already in South Korea and we are joining him on Friday. I haven't ever had to do this for more than a few days, and usually I am either with my family or his family so at least I have help there. I have an amazing church family here to lighten my load and my spirits, but man do I respect mothers who are forced to raise their children alone. What an act of pure love, determination and strength. In India, Landon was in a naughty streak. I think Austin's schedule was hard for him, and he was biting, kicking, scratching, squealing, screeching, screaming too much. When I learned that Landon and I would be staying behind due to a new company travel policy, I was worried that I would not be able to take care of Landon in Chicago, much less on an airplane for 16 hours as we fly alone to South Korea without having a mental and perhaps physical breakdown. In our church, the Church of Jesus Chris...

Easter in India

Image
Landon with his basket. I think he was excited!  Easter is not a huge holiday here in India. Although there are Christians, and a Catholic school and church in Jamnagar, there was no Easter candy or baskets or really anything that indicated that there was any major holiday going down in the Reliance mart. Most of the people here are Hindu, Muslim, Jain, Sikh, etc. Not celebrating Christ's resurrection at any rate. So, Easter was a little different for us this year.  Silk top and leggings from Reliance mart Another bandhi outfit- this one has the white dots at the bottom of the pants only, as well as the design on the shirt, which is made of linen vs. silk Enjoying his new bus coloring the egg The final result Easter morning, I did a special Easter nursery lesson with Landon prior to Austin getting home. We sang Easter songs and learned about how Jesus was resurrected. We waited for Austin to get home for awhile, went to breakfast, stole a har...

Saturday Night Date Night

Image
Austin and I went on a relatively cheap, and AWESOME date last weekend. We went to Terra Mia , an authentic Italian pizzeria for dinner. This place makes fresh pizzas with very thin crusts in an oven imported from Napoli! Austin loves speak Italian with the Neopolitan* employees and eat pizza that reminds him of Italy. Also, they have coupons on restaurant.com that allow us to buy $25 worth of food for $15. That means a pizza each (leftovers!) and gelato all for $15! On top of that, we are trying to earn airline miles so that we can go to Italy when we graduate next April/May. Terra Mia is a restaurant that helps us earn miles for every dollar we spend. Basically it's great food and an awesome deal. We love Terra Mia. *Neopolitan= people from Napoli! I learn something new every day! Christ and the Young Child Christ in Gethsemane Next, we went to the BYU Museum of Art's current exhibit, "Carl Bloch: The Master's Hand" . This exhibit requires tickets but t...
