Wandering Browns

Gate off to the side of the path to the falls These falls we came upon by accident- they were not on my top list of things to do. We were driving back from the cliffs and saw the sign. We pulled over and ended up loving these waterfalls the best. I think the top waterfall was actually Cheonjeyeon falls, and then in this beautiful gorge that went straight out to the ocean there were waterfalls aptly named "2nd waterfall" and "3rd waterfall". Before we reached the waterfall, we went over a spectacular, but completely unnecessary bridge to the other side of the gorge. On our way to the falls, there was this cute lotus flower and lily pad pond. I started hearing noises that sounded like frogs, and we found several in the pond. Austin loves frogs so he was excited showing Landon all of the frogs in the pond. Landon couldn't see them when they were camouflaged against the rocks, but did very well finding them only when he made a big noise and they plopped into the pond. Showing Landon the frogs! This waterfall went directly into the ocean! The water below the falls was so cold and so blue. We had to walk down steep stairs to the beach and on the way, we saw the Haenyeo- or female divers that free dive to harvest sea cucumbers, shellfish, and such from the ocean floor off the coast of Jeju. They take nets with them and have buoys with bells to help them reach the surface. After they get their catch for the day, they bring it up on the beach and sell it or in this case, they scoop it out of the shell or kill it somehow and serve it raw ...

Our first stop on Jeju was the beautiful Cheonjiyeon Falls. We saw lots of these grandpa figures carved out of lava all around the island. They are meant to protect the villages. Left hand up means warrior, right hand up means scholar.  Many of the tourists here on Jeju go around on tour buses and so there were waves of tourists going to the falls. It was a nice walk to see the falls from the parking lot and at times it was not too crowded. The Seogwipo side of Jeju is super green and lush with tons of plants and moss. There weren't as many flowers as other tropical locales, but it was still gorgeous.  We played with camera settings to get cool water effects It's a miracle! Landon is looking at the camera! After we finished taking pictures, people wanted to take pictures with Landon. I joked with Austin that we should charge 1,000 won (about $1) to take pictures with Landon and we would make a fortune!
