Interview with a 4-year old

Our sweet, mischievous Owen is 4! As always, I asked him some of his favorites:

Favorite food: noodles (pasta)
Favorite show: Richard Scarry's cartoons
Favorite toy: LEGOs
Favorite movie: Grinch
Favorite thing to do with family: jump on the trampoline
Favorite book: Batman
Favorite letter: O
Favorite Number: 1
Favorite shape: star
Favorite animal: cheetah
Favorite dinosaur: T-rex
Favorite place: Children's museum
Favorite restaurant: McDonald's
Favorite thing to do: play LEGOs
Favorite sport: soccer
Favorite Primary song: "If I Were a Shepherd"

Owen's eyes started crossing noticeably around the time Elena was born, and we discovered that he is very farsighted in his right eye more than his left and needed glasses. He started wearing glasses in June and between glasses and patching 1 hour/day his eye turn is much better. He likes his glasses and doesn't mind patching as long as he gets rewards every 30 days or so for completing an eye chart. So far we've gone to the Doseum and two trampoline parks as rewards.

Owen loves all sports and is very coordinated. He loved playing soccer with his team, the Elves on the Shelf this year. He scored goals almost every game and giggled the whole time as he ran around the field. He started the season pushing everyone down to get to the ball, but figured out how to get to the ball without pushing as much. He is excited to play T-ball this spring in Little League. Owen loves puzzles and playing games. Landon taught him checkers and he likes playing memory/matching games as well. He can be very laid back and entertain himself for hours playing with cars or markers or really anything. Our saying for Owen is "He's really good, unless he's not".

Owen loves to play rough. He loves wrestling and playing on the trampoline with Landon and Austin, and getting thrown on the trampoline by Austin. He is a tough kid! Owen loves learning and is reading and sounding out basic words and recognizing sight words. He can count to 30 and understands basic addition. Owen loves to do school and asks for it every day. We do preschool for about an hour each day. He is a willing helper and even helps with Elena at times. He also squishes Elena at times, so it just depends on his mood.

Owen knows just how to make Landon mad. He is a sneaky little bugger and can often get away with things if we're not watching carefully. He tried to talk his way out of things if we catch him in the act, by saying something like, "Oh, I was just putting this ice cream away..." or things like that. He gives the best hugs and is a snuggly affectionate little guy. He has a quirky sense of humor and his jokes are funny! For example, we were talking about Landon's teacher this year, Ms. Utley, and Owen said, "Ms. Utley, more like Ms. Butley!" We all laughed, but then emphasized that Landon could not call Ms. Utley that.

Owen is a fruit monster. He loves berries and will eat a ridiculous amount of watermelon. My mom even called him a fruit bat when she was visiting! He likes eggs for breakfast and eats my berry and spinach smoothies almost every day. He's in the 60th percentile for height and weight at 36 lbs. and 41 inches. He's wearing 4T pants and 5T shirts. He's great at playing with everyone, talking to everyone and making new friends. I love this little guy so much! He's my little buddy.
