Almost a Rockies Game and Buffalo Bill

Austin, Landon and I had a great time in Colorado visiting family. Grandma Ev had spent a good amount of time researching all sorts of fun things to do with a toddler. Unfortunately, Landon got sick with a fever, cough and snotty nose so our ability to go out and do all the fun things was limited. Before he got sick, though, we picked a beautiful afternoon and went downtown for a Rockies game. Typically there are afternoon thunderstorms in Colorado in the summer, but this day was just gorgeous. It was also the weekend that Todd Helton's number was retired, so we went early to get free jerseys they were passing out.

The Browns have a tradition of going to this hole-in-the-wall place in Denver to pick up canolis before the game for dinner. Canolis are sausages wrapped in pizza dough, kind of like pigs in a blanket for grownups. Some have peppers in them and some have sauce in with the sausage. If you go to the restaurant you can get them smothered with tomato sauce. I wanted salad, so I waited until we got to the stadium and purchased a salad that I designed myself. I love CO and all the food choices here!
Landon wore his baseball shirt and hat from different Korean baseball games, just to get into the spirit!
Things went bad when the announcer came on and said that a water main a few blocks away had burst and so the game was delayed. We waited around for another 45 minutes before another announcement that the game had been canceled because there was no water at the stadium. So we took Landon to a baseball stadium, got a free jersey, watched the teams warm up, ate dinner, and went home. It ended up being ok because Landon was acting really tired and starting to get sick that night, so a late night would have been no good for him.

Monday afternoon, Landon had been cooped up in the house trying to recover from sickness and I decided that perhaps he would like to go on a little drive to get out of the house. We went into the mountains and made our way to Buffalo Bill's grave. I had never been there either, so we walked around and dodged rain that fell occasionally due to the afternoon thunderstorms.

Grandma, Landon and the buffalo
I brought the stroller with the intention of just pushing Landon around because he was sick. He insisted on walking. Some of the time he was ok, but every now and then some of the pictures capture his "sick look". It is hard for him to be sick because he still pushes and tries to do as much as possible, much like his momma.

Landon loves Umpa and Auma!

Buffalo Bill's grave, with his wife's next door, also Landon is looking sick here
Landon loves Umpa. We think Umpa and Landon are very similar in many ways, and I even found a picture of Grandpa Jim from his childhood that looks exactly like Landon!

Horsey ride!
After visiting the grave we ducked inside the gift shop to check out the bottled rootbeer. Austin and I are glass rootbeer bottle collectors so we added a new kind to the collection! That does not happen very often these days. We also found two personalized gifts in the gift shop for Landon, but one was a pocket knife and the other a very small box, so we will keep looking for a Colorado license plate for him!

It was very windy and we had to go back to the car because Landon was freezing at this point. Sadly, this is the only picture we got of the amazing view looking down from the mountains towards the foothills and plains on the east side of the Rockies.
