8 Months!

Landon is 8 months old. Where has all the time gone? As I plan to go back to work more this next month, I am really savoring the full-time "mom" days that I have left. Landon has really progressed in his skills this month! He crawls very fast on his knees, and has quite the collection of bruises on his head from pulling up to stand on everything, and then falling over. Unfortunately, he is really tall and has recently discovered how to stand up with just some upper extremity support. He doesn't even need a handhold anymore. He is cruising along the coffee table, couch, beds and his crib. He stands and grabs for anything he can, including paper, cords, and anything I don't want him to have. He still loves to explore things by putting them in his mouth. He still loves cords, although I am trying to discourage that at this point.

3 Generations- Round 2! Landon loves Grandpa Jim!
It seems that when he gets visits from family, and more attention, that he always comes away with new skills. When we came back from CA, he was army crawling. Grandma Ev came to visit this past weekend and he learned how to clap his hands together! We are also working on finger feeding. So far he can only eat little cereal bits; the veggies and fruits are too slimy for him to pinch. Most of the time he forgets to pinch and ends up with lots of cereal in his fists that he can't then transfer to his mouth. Landon tried some new foods this month, including avocado and peach yogurt. At one meal, he ate 2 ice-cube sized cubes of squash and 2 cubes of pork, then another veggie cube and some yogurt! It seems that his activity level is balanced with his appetite though, because even though he does have daddy's thunder thighs, he doesn't really have many baby rolls.

Standing up at the coffee table!

Landon loves music. When we were watching LDS General Conference, he sang along with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. He sings along with everyone at church. Sometimes, when I'm singing to him at home, he sings along as well. It is super cute to hear him enjoying the music so much! He also began saying "dada" and we're pretty sure he knows what it means. He babbles so much and it is fun to have nonsense conversations with my little man.

Handsome boys ready for church

So I did an unofficial height and weight measurement for fun this month. Landon is roughly 24 lbs and 31 inches tall. He is growing out of 12 month clothes, and fitting surprisingly well into most of the 18 month clothes that I have gotten out. I look at the clothes and think they are huge, then try them on and they fit with just a little extra room. What can I say, he's kind of a mutant.

Landon loves to be on Austin's shoulders

Grandma Ev came to visit, thus we have more cute pictures
Landon has 6 teeth, 4 on the top and 2 on the bottom. Recently, he has developed an interest in biting me, not while nursing, but on the shoulder, face, arm, hand, whatever he can get it mouth on. I have also caught him biting chunks out of things made out of memory foam. I'm guessing he likes the texture of the foam in his mouth?

Being a mom is really hard, but so fun at the same time. Landon is such a good-natured baby and a blessing to both Austin and I.
