For the second half of our day in Amsterdam, I wanted to visit the Rijksmuseum, a big art museum, and Austin did not. So, he took Landon to the Maritime museum while I took on the Rijksmuseum. From where we parted ways after lunch, it was a far walk for both of us. My walk took me through the heart of the city where I discovered the famous floating flower market, Bloemenmarkt. These days, there were some bulbs and some live flowers, but mostly souvenir shops which was a little depressing. I also passed the Munttoren, a tower that was once part of the medieval gate into Amsterdam. LDS Quiet Book Extravaganza

I finally finished enough pages to put my quiet book together! Landon already had a store bought Bible quiet book, so I focused on a Book of Mormon/Church History/LDS general theme. For materials I used a heavy weight Pellon for the pages. It is much easier to work with vs. felt, and lasts a long time. I used a combination of stiff and soft felt for everything that goes on the page. I would have used all stiff felt, but Hancock Fabrics did not have all the colors of stiff felt that I wanted. Instead of stitching on the lettering, I wrote on the Pellon with sharpie. SO much easier. I used many different blogs for ideas, and tweaked the designs here and there to make it work for me. Here are the pages:  The first page I did was Lehi's vision of the Tree of Life found in 1 Nephi 8. The iron rod is a silver ribbon, and Nephi can move along it. Luke's Birth Story

 Monday, April 26th was a busy day. I knew that there was a strong possibility that I would still be pregnant, and I was, despite the strong, but inconsistent contractions I had been experiencing for several weeks. There was even an evening the previous week where I was having strong contractions every 2-3 minutes for over an hour. My contraction timing app told me to go to the hospital several times, but I knew that I needed to try laying down first, so I went to bed. And of course, the contractions stopped. So that Monday, we went to an ophthalmologist appointment for Owen in San Antonio, followed by the children's museum and Shake Shack. Thankfully, my mother-in-law had flown into town the afternoon previously, so I had a helper for this outing that made it doable with Owen and Elena and very pregnant me.
